Kerala Style Crab Curry Recipe





Ingredients for Kerala Style Crab Curry Recipe

Crab - 1 kg 
Button onions(Kunjulli) - 10 nos 
Green chilly - 2 tbsp
Chilly powder - 2 tbsp
Kerala Tamarind for fish - 3 - 4 pieces
(soaked in water)
Coriander powder - 1 tbsp 
Coconut oil – 3 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp 
Salt - As reqd
Mustard seeds - 2 tsp
Curry leaves - A few

Preparation Method of Kerala Style Crab Curry Recipe

1)Clean the crab, separate the legs and break the shell. 

2)Peel the onion and slice it. 

3)Peel the ginger, and crush it. 

4)Slice the chillies in length wise.

5)In an earthen pot from Kerala or heavy bottomed pan, pour the oil.

6)Splutter the mustard seeds.

7)Sauté sliced onion until soft.

8)Add the chilly powder, turmeric and salt soaked in little water.

9)Add to ginger and onion.

10)Reduce the heat to minimum and add the crab and the legs too and curry leaves too. 

11)Add green chilies, lower the heat and cover the pan. 

12)Cook until crabs are done. 

13)Remove from heat and garnish with curry leaves.

:- Crab Curry is ready.

:- Serve hot the crab curry.

Kerala Traditional Festival


Kanjiramattom Nercha :

In Kerala, every year, in the month of January, the festival ofKodikuthu takes place at the Kanjiramattom mosque located in the district of Ernakulam. This mosque is a memorial to Sheikh Fariduddin.
The main attraction of the festival is the chandanakkudam ritual. This event that takes place at night will have pilgrims carrying pots covered with sandalwood paste. They will move as a procession to the mosque. Accompanying the procession are elephants in their traditional festival attire and folk performances. The festival is also an opportunity for people to watch traditional Muslim art forms like theDuffmuttu and the Kolkali.

Major Fruit Giving Plant Of Kerala




     Plavu (Jack fruit tree)

            Plavu is a large evergreen spreading tree known for the largest tree borne fruit in the world. Jack fruit tree is mostly seen in the tropical lowlands. This fruits is large and fleshy and are covered with thorny tubercles. Unripe fruits can be cooked. The seeds may be boiled or baked. Amongst a number of varieties of jackfruits, the honey-jack (muttan varikka or thaen varikka) is considered the sweetest and the best. The flesh is starchy and fibrous and provides energy. Jack fruit tree is used in the treatment of various diseases such as vitiated vata, pitta, diarrhea, skin disease, urinary retention and general weakness. The timber of the tree is used for making furniture as it is termite-proof. The core of the aged and seasoned jackfruit tree (Varikka plavu) is used to make the two feet body of the chenda. Ammachi plave, the name given to an old jackfruit tree in the Sree Krishna Swamy Temple at Neyyattinkara near Thiruvananthapuram, is legendarily connected with the time of Marthanda Varma, the founder of Modern Travancore. It is believed that the King escaped from his enemies by hiding in the huge hollow of the Ammachi Plavu.
